Many of us did not enjoy 2009. Unemployment and house foreclosures for some.Losses on the Stock Market and shocking news about the way some fortunes were lost. Most of us view a New Year with anticipation but what happened in early 2010?  Haiti!!  Quite unimaginable to most of us but the whole world came together to do what they could to raise money. Heads of State forgot politics for a while and arranged rescue missions. Funds were raised from all parts of the world and everyone,no matter what their circumstances at the time, took stock of their lives and began to count their blessings. If something good  came out of something so unbelievable bad, perhaps it is for us to realize we are in this world together for a short time.  "Love Thy Neighbor" became very clear.  Americans have always been a compassionate race of people doing good where they can but when the whole world showed us they could work together how impressive that became.. Politics aside we saw President Bush, President Clinton and President Obama together for one cause. We heard about people with very little to spare gave donations for the cause.

Perhaps this can be the time we teach our children to value what they have and to learn about those less fortunate who have very little.
